The album was recorded with a live audience at Studio 9 in North Adams, MA with post-production at Greg Landau's studio in Alameda, CA. The 11 tracks feature tunes the band has presented on tour over the past few years plus several new pieces, including the dynamic and quintessential Sosa creation 'Hella Changui'. The album includes special guest contributions by Natascha Atlas (vocal), Guillermo Gómez-Peña (spoken word), Reggie Stephens (spoken word), Tito Leliebre (percussion), and Camilo Landau and Kai Lyons (tres). The recording captures the very heart of Quarteto Americanos, a sonic universe in which Latin roots converge with the worlds of Jazz, Classical, and Hip-Hop. The result is a deeply personal sound that diverges from mainstream trends and instead expresses a truly unique voice. More than a collection of songs, the album is built on the art of dialogue... a steady, soulful conversation between friends who share a common interest and explore it with complete freedom and humility. For more than 600 years, inventors in Europe have tried all kinds of devices to provide mechanical music. Some of the great composers such as Beethoven, Handel, Haydn, Mozart and others have supported these efforts. The barrel-and pin principle that was mostly used in these inventions, was followed by the the perforated paper roll. When Henry VIII died (1574) he left a collection of musical instruments, among them a barrel instrument. In 1593 his daughter, Queen Elisabeth, sent to the sultan of Turkey a number of presents, including an organ with a carillon (4-tone musical bell). The earlier street organ was called Orgue de Barbarie, a corrupted version of the name of the Italian instrument maker ""Barbieri."" The sound of the street-organ or barrel today creates a certain nostalgic atmosphere. Because these musical instruments are fast disappearing, people in many lands have started to clamor for recordings of these organs to retain their quaint and charming sounds. In particular demand are the musical reproductions of street organs from Spain. The original producer of the recordings presented here, H.J. Lengsfelder, on his world travels, found such an instrument in the luxurious Hotel Melia Don Pepe in sunny, beautiful Marbella. There the street organ was used to entertain the very sophisticated crowd, assembling year after year. The producer Lengsfelder immediately arranged with the management for an up to date recording of the old world sounds. There were two organs used, a small one and one larger with a fuller sound. Originally released in the mid-1960s, this historic recording is presented here newly remastered for this exclusive release.

Tracklist:

La Verbena de la Paloma

Agua, Azucarillos Y Aguardiente

Gallito

Doce Cascabeles

"" Sevillanas Populares""

"" Los Nardos""

La Revoltosa

"" La Paloma""

"" Sus Picaros Ojos""

"" La Dolores""

Torna A Surriento

Madrid

UPC: 894232852922
Label: Essential Media Mod
Release Date: 7.31.26
Format: CD

More than two decades after releasing their debut album Can't Stop Rockin', San Diego's Chicano roots-rock veterans The Sleepwalkers return with Almas Perdidas, an eight-track record that showcases the evolving sound that has defined their musical journey for over 30 years. Released on Blind Owl Records, Almas Perdidas marks the label's first major 'Rock en Español' feature and introduces one of San Diego's longest-running Chicano rock bands to a wider audience. The Sleepwalkers blend roots rock, psychedelia, rockabilly, cumbia, and Chicano rock, reflecting the group's cultural identity and ever-changing sound. 'If anybody ever comes to our shows, they'll see that one minute we'll be playing a cumbia dance song, and then we'll switch it and do something that's Americana, or rockabilly, or even a country song,' Valenzuela says. Over the course of their career, The Sleepwalkers have shared stages with an impressive range of artists, including Poncho Sanchez, The Beat Farmers, Son Rope Pera, Rosie Flores, Ozomatli, and the Paladins. Featuring standout vocals from lead singer Johnny Valenzuela, and guitar work from Ritchie Orduño, Almas Perdidas honors the band's past while embracing the sounds that have continued to shape their artistic vision. Described by San Diego Troubadour as 'a blender with Los Lobos, Cowpunk à la the Blasters, and a dash of Texas roadhouse blues,' their newest album is a testament to the band's enduring sound while marking a new chapter in their career.

Tracklist:

Almas Perdidas

Baila Maria

Chinita De Thailan

Amor Lejano

Chicana Mama Boogaloo

Lockochon

Una Hermosa

Nobody

UPC: 085218149154
Label: Blind Owl
Release Date: 10.16.26
Format: CD

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0711/9336/2628/collections/the-word-cds-in-white-font-on-a-black-background_b14ddcb9-2725-46af-aa75-62d81b96cb59.png?v=1787193668
